This week reflecting on the national XC in Derry where I set a pb for most kilometres run in one day with an umbrella.
All the humans running round a muddy field could have chosen to do something else. But didn’t. Beckettesque absurdity.
Amidst general heroism, Sean McMahon falling, twisting his ankle, stopping, starting again and re passing the hordes was my inspirational performance of the day.
At marathon board meeting was held on Tuesday. Modest increases in subscriptions were voted through which I hope will be acceptable to the members as we continue to try to offer great value.
Eimear Maher is selected for the Irish team at Euro Cross and has a decent shot at another European medal this year given the strength of the squad.
We were crowned performance club of the year at the AAI awards. Naturally.
But, like rust, the club never sleeps.
This weekend, 30 ish of the MTR women (with several debutants) will take on the Meet and Train XC league in the Curragh. Not for the faint of foot.
And Kevin Byrne is hosting a ‘Try the Pole Vault’ session tomorrow (29th). All welcome.
Stephen Judge has been beautifying the house and we now have the Farrow and Ball suite almost ready for guests. Timely as we host a Level 1 coaching course this weekend, hot on the heels of the Assistant Coach course two weeks ago.
Super Sunday
The Club is holding Super Sunday this weekend where all the various endurance groups are coming together for a mass start at 10am. All groups run a few laps of the track and trails before setting off on their separate training routes. There will be Tea’s and coffee laid on for after training.
