Gusts, guts and glory at Round 1 of the Juvenile XC league 2025
11 athletes from the Wednesday crew made their cross-country season debut last Sunday in Round 1 of the Juvenile XC League in Donabate. In a month where Met Eireann made official their list of storm names for 2025-2026, I’m surprised ‘Amy’ didn’t get the nod as gale force gusts and downpours descended on athletes and spectators from early doors on Sunday!
The U10s completed a 600m loop around the beautiful 18th century parkland of Newbridge House. Representing DSD for the girls we had Alex, Julia, Lily, Niamh and Robyn and for the boys, Adam, Bobby, Cian, Harrison, Patrick and Rián. I don’t have an official list of results from Dublin Athletics yet, but all our athletes ran superbly. Special mention to Bobby who was first over the line in the boys race.
It was a character building experience to race in that weather, so congratulations everyone for taking part - you did yourselves and the club very proud ❤️💙
Dublin Juvenile XC League Round 2 takes place a little closer to home in Corcagh Park Clondalkin on Sunday October 5th. The format is a little different, the U10 girls and boys will run 700m with racing getting underway from 11.30am. More details to follow when I have them.
Well done all. Jean
