Highlight of the week was the spotting of otters on the Whitechurch Stream. This should be a sign of improved fish life. Keep an eye out for them but don’t disturb.
Oh and we only won the National Track and Field League, men’s and women’s – the first club in 21 years to do both.
Great credit to our T&F captains, Rachel Dunne and Ciarán Carthy, both of whom won their individual events as well as making sure everyone else performed. To keep things fresh I suggest Ciarán take over as women’s captain and Rachel as men’s for next year.
Thanks to Becca Tighe and Laura Sharp for organising the homecoming bbq in the Stableyard.
Sadder news in a week which saw endurance captain Rob Corbally lose his dad, Austin and esteemed coach Carol Healy lose her mam, Peggy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anaim dílis.
The amazing Eddie McDonagh headed off to Ethiopia to coach and distribute sports kit. He promised to come back but declined to give a date.
The AGM is fixed for September 15th – formal notices will go out in a few weeks. Form an orderly queue in order to get elected to the board vacancies.
We have great candidates for our lead coach positions and hope to have these in place for September.
In the week the roof went up on the sports hall, tenders came back for the Phase 3 works on the campus (including Orchard and Stableyard surfaces) and we should be ready to appoint a contractor next week.
The national champs are on in Santry this weekend and there’ll be plenty of famous silver vests to cheer on. Be there or be square.
